Yes, we certainly do. So far, I haven't caught the little tummy bug that both the kids had over the course of the last 2 days, but I can feel it lurking. I really think moms should be immune to anything and everything. We do so much already that to add doing all that along with being sick? That just isn't fair.
So, Hunter was sick on Monday. He started throwing up about 11am and kept doing so off and on until 4pm. Madison started throwing up last night at 11pm and continued off and on until 3am. Fortunately this was a very short lived bug. So, if I do get it, I should be better in about 5 hours.
Hunter was feeling much better yesterday, and proved this by putting a roll and a half of toilet paper in the toilet. Then, proceeded to take it back out, plop it (sopping wet) on the rug in front of the toilet. Later, he decided to pull a chair up to my grandmother's desk and proceed to rip off about a 6 inch wide strip of paper about 2 feet long. Sigh.
Today, I kept Madison home from school to ensure she doesn't infect the rest of the class with this bug, although she probably did that unknowingly yesterday. She is much better, eating fairly normal. She has relaxed alot though, and seems pretty antsy tonight.
Got alot of cleaning done this afternoon, laundry and dishes going, living room cleaned up and kitchen as well. Broccoli soup and bread for supper...mmmm....nothing better after a stressful 2 days! :)

Seriously?
Well, it is Monday. Rainy, windy and WARM outside. Like 50 degrees! If we didn't have the first 2 on the list, we could go outside and play!
My computer has been on the blitz this past weekend. Well, more like the last 6 months. I was honestly afraid that it was gonna die on me. So, I reformatted it (with a little...well, LOTS of help ;)) and got the drivers all on (BY MYSELF!)...and now I have a "new" computer again...just currently downloading all the stuff I "need" onto it.
So, yesterday morning was lovely. I went up to take a shower before church...and noticed that the hot water didn't stay hot for very long. I knew I had laundry going, though, so I didn't think much about it. Upon getting out, I could hear what sounded like water running. Again, thinking it was the washer, let it pass. I go, get dressed do my routine. All the sudden it dawns on me that I can STILL hear water running. Hunter, the boy of my life, had dragged a chair over to the sink (yes, again) and proceeded to turn on the faucets (both hot and cold) and was flooding my kitchen. Because, as Maddy put it, he put that "thingy in there to make the water stay!" and b/c of that "thingy" and my son, I had a nice mess to clean up before church. But, hey, my kitchen floor got half mopped! :)
Hunter was at it again with the butter (I remember my little sister eating a stick of butter when she was little...hmmmm), he got out a stick, and started peeling it off to eat it. Yeah, that is MY son! LOL! Today, he isn't feeling all that well. You know that look they get right before they vomit everywhere? Yeah, that one. I took aim and ran with him for the kitchen. Vinyl floors are so much easier to clean up than carpet. He got an immediate bath (yes, before I cleaned up the floors!) and I changed my clothes as well. He is currently napping and I would join him, but Madison gets off the bus in about 40 minutes, and it would be like me to sleep through the bus drop off. That would NOT be cool, so I am staying awake, as comfy as he looks.
Have you ever noticed how snuggly babies and kids are? I mean, seriously...you could be TOTALLY wide awake, lay down with them to put them to sleep...and wake up 3 hours later like "huh? what happened?" This happens to me a lot! Give me a bed, a kid and a blanket and I am good for a nap!

The Hunter Files...
Apparently it is amazing fun to throw down dirty socks at the cat on the stairs. This was accomplished while trying to put Madison to bed last night. Literally about 10 socks were hurdled at poor Cheddar. The cat did not seem very concerned about his safety...sat there and took it like a man.
This afternoon while holding a wiggly toddler on my lap, he decides to bend down, and lick my pants. Right on my leg. I tell him no, that is "yucky," so being the boy he is, does it again...and again...and again. Finally I set him on the floor. "We do NOT lick pants in this house!" Seriously, words I never thought I would be saying to my children.
Tonight, he decided to sneak out to the kitchen, discover that I didn't have the refrigerator lock in place (yes, I have a lock for him, otherwise the fridge would be emptied on a daily basis), and comes quietly to the livingroom, shuts the pocket doors. They separate the kitchen from the livingroom. I sit here for a minute, then quietly open them to see my 2 1/2 year old son trying his darndest to open a 1lb. box of butter.
He also, tonight, was sitting on the potty, and he will only sit on the adult toilet, not the potty chair (that I spent money on specifically to buy him, LOL). I tell him that I need to go potty. So, he points to the potty chair and says, very seriously, "Go, Momma!" HAHAHAHA!
My son, at 2 1/2 years old, is smarter than your average child. In EVERY aspect. He knows all his letters and can recite them when asked (and not in any particular order), most of his numbers as well. Since he has been a baby, he loves anything with buttons, lights or "electronic." He knows what channel the TV has to be on for the DVD player, the VCR, the Wii and the PS2...and they are ALL different. He can honestly work the computer, and is just extremely intelligent when it comes to taking things apart and putting them together. He will pull a chair (heavy, to boot) across the house to get to the sink to play in water. He climbs like a soldier (I swear rock walls would NOT stop this child). He is self potty training, something I thought would take forever with him! :) He is a momma's boy, and a snuggler, and I love him to pieces, although most days I wanna pull my hair out!
These are just a few of my sons quirks and loves...and he makes up a huge part of who I am. :)

Out of the Mouth of Babes...
Long day today...but an EXCELLENT one! Got to go see one of my best friends in Syracuse. She has an adorable baby boy, now 2 months old, and I just had to go see him! I have been wanting to, but the weather, kids, etc just weren't cooperative. Had a wonderful time having some "adult" time and seeing the baby, and her daughter as well.
While we were there (the kiddos came along, of course), Madison is playing in her daughter's room. All of the sudden we hear (she was pretending to be on the phone) "Hello, Doctor? I am having a baby" (pause)"Can you take the baby out?" And, then, when we were on our drive home, we stopped at Walmart to get a few things. Madison gets back in the car and she goes to sit down and is like "bu-bu-butt" like she stutters it, but it catches her off guard, and she starts giggling. So, she gets me giggling, and we are "bu-bu-butt"ing it the whole way out of the parking lot...now it is a joke! Eh...you had to be there, I guess.
Oh, on a totally different topic: What on God's green earth is the deal with American Girl dolls? Madison is obsessed...and luckily, being only almost 6, she is easily sueded into the Walmart knock-offs. I mean, come on, 98 bucks for a doll? I think NOT! The walmart ones are JUST AS NICE, Madame Alexander puts them out, called Friends 4 Life. Maddy loves them! And, they are a quarter of the price! And the furniture! OMG! It would take a small fortune to buy it all! No thank you, and I thank the Lord for providing Walmart as my saving grace on this one! <3

Where are your clothes?
Hunter has refused to wear clothes this evening. He has peed on the potty twice, (YAY!) and is now thinking being stark naked is the bomb. Yeah...it will certainly be that if he goes on the floor. Plus, he is rather enjoying pulling on his wanger. BOYS!
Had today off from work, which was nice. Got to spend some time with my mom, which was overdue. I love her and miss her...and she lives 2 blocks away! Also got to see my baby sister (she is 19) and spend some time catching up and chatting with her. Then, I came home, and cleaned. My living room is picked up, vacuumed, and the kitchen is sparkling. Well, not sparkling, but you know as sparkling as it can get with a child who is currently thinking peeing on the floor, and running through it is his high point of the day! Sigh.
Had me some chinese for dinner...most went to the kids. Watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Don't really recommend it...once was enough. Although cute, it definitely got a little too far out there for me. Now the kiddos are playing Don't Spill the Beans (in the non-traditional way...pretty much just filling the bucket and dumping them out) and watching American Idol reruns. And, seriously this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMwhl4IrPNc is hilarious! Enjoy!

Life is Good!
What is it called again, when you do it all? Clean, take care of the kids, work, shop, etc? Oh, yeah, motherhood. And, all those hugs and kisses make it worth every moment.
It saddens me to leave my kids to go to work. But, I feel right now, I have no choice. This is what I have to do. Hunter's first 2 days at daycare were great...no crying, he enjoyed going. Now, this week, as soon as we pull in the driveway, he starts crying. I know he is a momma's boy, and just doesn't want me to leave him, but I feel so guilty. I tried not to cry leaving him on Monday. Luckily, he only cried for about 5 minutes after I left. The sitter said that yesterday was only about 2 minutes and today, he was fine as soon as he saw me pull out of the driveway. It is good to know he is getting better with it.
Tomorrow is "Celebrate the Letter Ss Day" at Maddy's school. So, she can wear slippers, sweatpants, sweatshirts, etc. She is all excited, and luckily I found her slippers. Otherwise, it would have resulted in a trip to the store, b/c she was rather insistant on wearing slippers.
I have tomorrow off from work. Will be so nice to catch up on housework, laundry...so, is this really a day "off?" I think not. I shall instead call this "catch up" day. It seriously looks like my house threw up!

My son...
I think Hunter is trying to become a plumber. Serious butt crack issues tonight. However, I am super proud of him! He asked to potty twice, and succeeded both times, earning him a smarties. The second time around, he decided to put on his own pull up. Thus, putting it on sideways, and giving him major plumber's butt. It was so cute! He is doing really well with potty training. He can stop mid-stream and start up again...so I think he has the hang of it. Now, it is just getting him to go in the potty every time. Am I right to be having him sit on the potty for now, until he gets the hang of things? Or, should I start him standing? Moms of boys...I need help! :)
Today was a pretty good day. Work was busy, so it went by fairly fast. I got to unload boxes all morning and hang up the clothes accordingly. It is amazing what we get in, and what people buy. It is also amazing what you find in the racks, in between clothes, shoes, etc. Today, one of my co-workers found a bunch of bananas. Luckily, they were still perfectly fine to put back on the shelf. However, one of my supervisors was telling us at lunch about some pork chops that had gotten hidden in a pile of jeans. It had apparently stayed there about 5 days. She said it stunk like crazy when she found them...not pretty. Had to not only claims out the pork chops, but the surrounding jeans, just for the smell. Ugh...some people are just plain disgusting! However, the interest of the day, was one of the Customer Service Supervisors found a box of tampons that were SEALED with a USED tampon in the box. Seriously? HOW does THAT happen? Someone must have been super pissed off at the factory. What is this world coming to?

What a Morning!
And, it really hasn't even begun! First of all, who the heck honestly is ready to get up and out of bed at 6:30am? Surely not me! Those cheery morning people can kiss my butt! Sorry, but after becoming a mom, and newly working, you just wanna sleep in! However, Madison has to get up and off to school, so you go with the flow and accomplish what you have to. Now, see, most mornings (pre-working days) I would get her on the bus, and crawl back in bed (If Hunter is still sleeping), and sleep blissfully until he would wake up. Now, it is almost impossible to accomplish this.
So, this morning, being no different, I awoke to the sounds of the garbage man noisily entering my driveway, making my yippy miniature dachshund bark like mad (she is neurotic, and will bark at anything possible). Thank you, garbage man for waking me up 20 minutes early! Fortunately (or unfortunately) I fall back to sleep, only to be woken up by the lovely sounds of my alarm clock at 6:30. Okay lean over, click the slider into place, and lay back. Ahhh...the joys of bed. Even with my 2 1/2 year old son kicking me in the back it is heaven! Yes, my son has a great habit, as of late, of coming into my bedroom at about 4-6am and wanting snuggles. This I have no energy to fight yet, so in he goes.
I finally crawl out of bed about 6:45. I already have the kids clothes set out (hey, I don't procrastinate everything!), so I go get Maddy out of bed (meanwhile Hunter is still in blissfull unawareness). Alright, let the dog out, get things set for the day. She is supposed to go the bathroom, wash her hands and brush her teeth. How long do you suppose it should take an almost 6 year old to accomplish this feat? I'd say 5-10 minutes TOPS for all of it. So, I hop on facebook while she is in there. 15 minutes later, after me tellng her to hurry up, she is still in there. I go to check on her, and she has ONLY used the toilet. YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME! The bus is minutes away from coming, and this child isn't even dressed yet! I give her 2 minutes to complete. She comes running out, we dress, do a quick ponytail (which you know will fall out by the time she gets there), and get her out to put boots, hat, etc on. In the middle of packing her bookbag, the bus pulls up! UGH! I quickly open the door so the driver knows she is coming, otherwise they just leave. Throw her bookbag onto her back and kiss her goodbye.
Now, I have 15 minutes left here to relax before I go hop in the shower to start MY day. Funny how all this mornings trials are for a Kindergartener to get to school on time...what we do for our kids! No back to sleep for me this morning. I will be working from 9-5, which of course means that I will shower at 7:45, dress, hair, etc then wake up monster boy to get ready for daycare. Although, this only consists of dressing him, and making sure he gets breakfast. Only. HA! He is 2 1/2...need I say more?
Okay...here I go.

Starting a New Adventure
So, I thought I would start a blog about my life as a mom. Let me just say, some days are harder then others. I think all of us moms can sympathize with each others conundrums. Once we become moms, life as we knew it previously all but ceases. Sure, we have the same friends, family, job, likes and dislikes, but seriously, ALL of our time is devoted and focused on our children. We may not spend as much time with those friends or family. We may quit our job, change careers, or become stay at home moms. We may like the same things, but focus on what our children like, and learn to like what they do. For example, I have become very accustomed to my children controlling the television. I don't think I have watched an adult program on the TV for some time now. We also learn to eat vegetables that we hate (because it is good for our kids, and we want them to learn to like them), or sing kids songs that get stuck in our heads for hours, or days upon end. Our life as we previously knew it, has changed.
But, look what we have recieved! A beautiful package of giggles and joy, cherub faces and chubby hands. Of course, let's not overlook all the poop and vomit...have you ever had to catch vomit in your hands to avoid it getting on the floor or something else? Seriously...this has happened to me many times, and I have become a pro! Also, have you ever been handed poop by your 2 1/2 year old, who is potty training? Let's not forget late nights, teething, potty training and wanting to fall asleep so badly that you put the baby in bed with you, just to get some sleep! However, has there ever been anything better than being called "mom?" I was in love the moment I knew I was pregnant with both of my children.
I have been very blessed to be the mom of a gorgeous little girl, who is full of spirit and is one minute a princess and the next, a rock star. Madison has lit up my life with her smiles, her quirks and her irreplaceable personality. Hunter, my little boy, is the king of the climbers, lord of the technology age, and has the hugest, roundest eyes you have ever seen. Both of my children are my life, and I now live for them.
I hope you enjoy my daily (or weekly, it's gonna depend on life!) blogs about my trials and tribulations. This is gonna get interesting, I am sure. There will be TMI moments...and tearful moments, but I am hoping the happy moments outweigh them all. God has blessed me greatly.
